Ellie Maclin
I'm a mother, freelance writer, homesteader, and archaeologist with a passion for all things handmade -- food, tools, clothing, children...
My background is in anthropology, archaeology, writing, and business. I hold a B.A. with Honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Master of Science in Archaeological Resource Management from the University of Georgia. I currently work part-time as a Community Coordinator for Green Tree Footprints, a green fundraising and consulting firm that focuses on schools, churches, and civic organizations. I occasionally work as a contract archaeologist for Panamerican Consultants.
But my passion is writing. I am editor for Pema Karpo Meditation Center in Memphis, and write online for Suite101, Demand Media Studios, and Examiner.com. My husband and I co-own Alpha-Zed Consulting, a freelance firm. I believe that the written word has the power to change the world, and I strive to make every article a positive force for change.
I write both online and for print publications, on such topics as historic preservation, meditation, and green enterprise. My life is gloriously busy... in addition to my work life, my husband and I run a hobby farm/CSA called Oak Hill Farms. The land has been in his family for seven generations. Somehow, I manage to keep up with a work schedule, a husband, a two-year-old, two dogs, four hogs, six chickens, a turkey, and a barn cat, and a gorgeous vegetable garden.

Leaving Positive Footprints,
